We hope this guide will demonstrate how Wix can fit your building needs, help you create the perfect webpage, and make the most out of it from the beginning.
Explore the toolbars and functionalities
Your website should let your visitors quickly and easily find exactly what they want online. When it comes to search, simplicity is power. Wix offers the tools to start your work in a smooth, intuitive way.
Each section of your design will have its own set of functions available in the toolbar on the left side of your screen. Each section has different options for editing, deleting, and adding more content, so be sure to explore those options when trying out different section types and building designs.
Remember that you can change the design at any time, but all of the content will stay the same, so choose a template that has room for growth. Once you’ve selected a template, try out some of the different designs by clicking “Edit.” You can also modify or delete sections using the toolbar on the left side of your screen. As a beginner, these are helpful for getting an idea of how you want your webpage to look.
Make a plan for your content
Building a webpage can be exciting. Even though the process may seem complicated, it's actually quite easy to do. We recommend you work in stages. You'll want to start by creating an account and choosing a template or theme. Then you can move on to building it by uploading images and content.
Whether you are an experienced graphic designer or a novice trying to make an online splash and dive into the basics, Wix should be your go-to building platform. You can do all of these with no coding experience necessary! With such amazing and easy-to-use features that don't require special skills in HTML or CSS, anyone can do it.
But remember, don’t forget the quality content. All this planning will be for nothing if you do not have a clear vision for your brand. These tools and functionalities will only serve as your building equipment to bring life to the ideas that are in your head. Imagine yourself as a customer. What content will you find engaging? What would you like to see that will make you want to support a certain brand?
The actual steps

First things first: you'll need an account. Don't worry, it's free! Just sign up using your email, or you can use your Facebook login or Gmail login for a faster sign-up process.
Afterwards, you have to decide what kind of website you are building. You can choose from a dozen different building categories, including Online Store, Food and Restaurant, Music, Photography, Blog, Beauty and Wellness, and more.
Next, you will be asked to choose how you want to create your website. Wix allows you to use its templates or the proprietary AI that can help you build it in just a few minutes.
If you choose the old-fashioned way, you will get access to hundreds of customizable templates which can help you design and redesign it. Click the View Demo button to see and compare what your work will potentially look like.
Once you find a template you like, you will be taken to its Editor. A toolbar on the left panel will allow you to add or remove text and apps. The toolbar on the right will allow you to edit its appearance. Here, you can rotate, realign and resize images to your preference.
On the top right-hand corner, you will find a panel with different buttons like undo, redo and a save button, though the auto-save feature is on by default.
You can add text from the Text Settings window. Here, you can change the font and the font size, etc. Then you can add a background image using the huge image library or upload your own image, you can even build your own image gallery. It also allows you to add a contact form so your visitors can get in touch with you in case they want to purchase something or ask some questions.
Wix websites are mobile-friendly by default and so you can also edit how it will look on a mobile phone. Click the layout optimizer so Wix can automatically fix up the elements so it will look clean and ready on mobile.
And we’re almost done. Next is to get it optimized for SEO. Go to Settings and select Get Found on Google. This will provide you with a list of optimizations so that you can be easily found on Google’s search results.
Still, on Settings, finalize your URL, name, and preferred payment method. Preview by clicking the button on the top right of the screen, next to the Save button. And if you’re satisfied with your work, hit Publish. And there you have it, your very own website created with Wix!
One last thing. After you have published it, you may notice that Wix has attached their logo. To remove this, you can upgrade to their paid version. This is completely optional. We hope this guide will help you to start your own website with Wix. Beat the competition and happy selling!
